My name is Peggy. Following my graduation from NUI Galway, Republic of Ireland – I am an Intern/FiY1 at a Dublin hospital.
Having my exams moved forward and starting work earlier than usual has been both nerve-wrecking and exciting as we face new challenges in the wake of COVID-19.
Throughout my time at university I was involved as a Medical Education officer with local branches of the Association of Medical Students of Ireland and the Medical Society.
As I progress from my student roles I am keen to remain involved in different medical communities. Besides medical education, I am interested in inclusion health and the relationship between public health and surgery. I have a particular interest in global surgery. Moreover, I believe in equitable healthcare and caring for those who need it the most.
I look forward to the new opportunities and challenges which graduation from university will bring.
